The view outside the Essanay Cafe in Niles
Andrew C. MacRae

If you live in Fremont, chances are you’ve met, worked, planned, dreamed, laughed, built, innovated, changed with Andrew MacRae.

Andy is one of the guiding forces in Fremont, a kind and compassionate spirit, who wakes up every morning with at least ten great new ideas on how to improve life in our bustling little community. Andy is like the Timex of Community Do-Gooding: he keeps tick tick ticking and give give giving. FremontOnline is just one example of how Andy gives back to the community. He is chief cook and bottle washer: collector of local news stories, interesting factoids, sender of email alerts, and has no problem rolling up his sleeves and taking care of all the daily nitty-gritty that goes on behind the scenes.

He is well known in local political circles, and greatly impressed those in the know about all things political when he made a strong showing in the last election. Andy currently serves on the
the Historical Architectural Review Board, the Museum of Local History, and the Celebrate Fremont planning committee. He is a past member of the Fremont Library Commission. Andy also finds time to serve meals at the Tri-City Homeless Coalition (TCHC) once a month, and has been active in the TCHC’s Winter Relief Program.

Andy loves the challenge of a good mystery, well written poetry, puzzling code, and how to solve everything. He is founder of the Fremont Occasional Theatre, which produces re-enactments of live radio broadcasts, such as War of the Worlds and A Christmas Carol. He also serves as organizer and master of ceremony for Open Mic Nights at Mission Coffees. Everything Andy does is infused with humor and creativity, a sense of “You want to fly to the moon? I’ll build the rocket ship.” Nine times out of ten, he does.
